WHAT WE DO
Pure Oakland Water (POW) supports and creates opportunities for environmental education and advocacy for those living in and near the Great Lakes region. By organizing river festivals and other public events, providing scholarships and internships to students studying in water-related fields, and giving resources to local watershed councils we are able to accomplish our mission of protecting regional water resources and promoting a sustainable future.
This work is enhanced by the partnerships POW has built with respected institutions like the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office, Lawrence Technological University, the Cranbrook Institute of Science, the Clinton River Watershed Council, Oakland University, the Huron River Watershed Council, the Friends of the Rouge, and Rochester College. POW is unique in its ability to collaborate with these organizations which allows us to reach and educate tens of thousands of students a year around the importance of preserving clean water. We are proud to be a part of the successful effort to keep students of all ages learning and working in Michigan and in the wonderful field of water.
